Google Plus - One Year On - Suck My Trend

Google Plus – One Year On

Today we celebrate the 1st Birthday for Google+. We can’t believe it has been around for that long already! It launched this time last year as a new social platform, but from the beginning there was concern about whether it was supposed to be used like Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn. Now it has been up and running for a year, there is still a question of where it lies in the spectrum. All we know is that Google+ has brought us some really unique ways of being social on a personal and professional level, with it’s “circle based” social features that allows us to control who we network to. Other features which have been launched in the first year of Google + include “hangouts” and “+1 button”.

The invite-only feature gave Google+ a slow but steady start but it also gave us and them time to really focus on what it was for and why it would be used. But after one year in the market, there is now over 250 million members of which 150 million are active users. Compared with the other social media platforms, this one is well on it’s way to being a global phenomenon. We expect Google to keep producing new features to make this happen.

So for now, Happy Birthday and we will celebrate Google+ on it’s 2nd Birthday to see how far it has been developed.
