Ryan Giggs has been appointed as the Captain of Team GB during the Olympics of 2012 in London.
The midfielder of Manchester United football club was awarded the title today, and this has become a huge topic in the sports world and on multiple social networks.
Coach Stuart Pearce made the note of saying that many players within the team were ready for the role, but Giggs stood out as the captain to be.
Stuart Pearce went on to say:
“It was the easiest decision of my managerial career. He has been one of the best professionals of the last 20 years.”
Giggs actually retired from professional football in 2007, so this will be a step up for him. Let’s hope he still has the fitness levels to keep up with a full 90 minute game.
Ryan Giggs was also at the centre of the CTB Footballer scandal last year which involved Imogen Thomas. With all that in the past, Giggs is ready to serve the nation.
Let’s hope Team GB can make us proud.
