Since the release of the iPhone 4 last summer, we have been ready to see what Apple has up it’s sleeve for the next big mobile update. After being teased by what was revealed as the iPhone 4S, consumers are now more ready than ever to see a totally revamped device.

Almost a sure-fire thing, the iPhone 5 will be released this summer. According to a credible source, the next iPhone will be launched a bit earlier than Apple has anticipated. This is likely due to intense competition by other major companies. One device in particular – the Samsung Galaxy S III.

If the source is as credible as we think, the next Keynote will be held on August 7th to announce the iPhone 5. An early August announcement would likely be followed up by a full release either later than month or within the first week of September. In the past, iPhone users on AT&T were given a generous and exclusive offer to upgrade to the newest iPhone earlier their contract allowed. We can only hope that they will do the same this year.

Additionally, there is much speculation of a new “iPad Mini” model that may make an appearance at the upcoming Keynote. Sticking to a mobile theme, that might also include a refresh to the iPod Touch/Nano line.

Being notorious for keeping tight secrets, we can never be sure of what Apple has planned until the day comes – but we can be sure to expect atleast one exciting new gadget.
