Bradley Wiggins has opened up the win for himself overall on the Tour de France 2012 after an amazing win today in Stage 19 which was a Time Trial.
Wiggins managed an incredible time of 1:04’13″ on the 53.5km track. This means he managed an average speed of 50 km/h, which on a bicycle is brilliant speed.
He is now leading by 3 minutes overall, meaning he has already pretty much won the tournament. The last stage into Paris city centre is tomorrow, and if Bradley can maintain his excellence, he will take the win for sure, as 3 minutes behind would be difficult to achieve.
Second place, behind by 1 minute was fellow Team Sky teammate Chris Froome, who also got a brilliant time. He is also 2nd place overall, so even if Wiggins has some trouble, a Britain can still win the tour.
This will be the first time a Briton has ever won the Tour de France.
Hopefully we will see a good race between Mark Cavendish and Bradley tomorrow in the final sprint into Paris. Once he knows he has the win, we can expect him to go full out, and increase that lead ever so more.
Good luck to Bradley Wiggins tomorrow for the final stage of the Tour de France 2012.
