Tweets Per Second - Opening Ceremony - Suck My Trend

Tweets Per Second – Opening Ceremony

The London 2012 Opening Ceremony is going very well so far. The Queen has just turned up with the Duke of Edinburgh. You can follow our Live Coverage of the Ceremony.

The tweets per second record has been beaten before multiple times at sporting events, such as the Superbowl, Champions League Final, and almost at the Euro 2012 Final too.

This Olympic Opening ceremony for London 2012 is being watched by around 1 billion people from all over the world, meaning there are a lot of people tweeting about what is happening throughout the ceremonies.

Twitpic has also been going crazy with people uploading thousands of pictures every minute. If you load up real time searches for Olympic related hashtags, you will notice that the page continously loads with new images from both audience members who have their cameras on “snap-like-there’s-no-tomorrow” mode, and also lots of TV captures and Media related images.

Will the Tweets per Second record be beaten? Personally, we think it will.
