Find Trending News on Newswhip

Here at Suck My Trend, we love websites that show trending news. Not only do they provide motivation and inspiration for news articles to be written here (With a link back of course), but also give us an insight to what the biggest news is right now on a Social level. That is what makes news Trending. It is calculated by the views that the news piece is getting, but without social boost and “viral” effect, that article is limited to how much it can be viewed.

Newswhip compiles a score for the most popular news by calculating it’s viral effect socially through Twitter and Facebook. The articles that get shared the most get the biggest score, bringing them to the top of the site. This means that the biggest news is always available as soon as you load the site up, which is what makes it so useful and quick to find what you are after.

The site allows you to view the biggest news worldwide by default, but from the sidebar on the left hand side, you are able to chose exactly what news you want to read, by selecting your country, and then your topic or category. This brings up the news you are after, especially if you work with a niche, or are only interested in a particular industry.

The site feels inspired by Techmeme, which is a site that shows the biggest technology based news by seeing how many different major tech news sites have covered the story. Many business people use Techmeme as their homepage to be brought up to the date with the biggest tech news every single morning, and newswhip could be the big one for the latest trending news each morning. Suck My Trend expects the site to grow significantly over the next year, and it appears to have recently had a visual upgrade to give it a more sleek and professional look.

Overall, we are very impressed, and proud to say we use it as inspiration for our news.
