Can Smartphones get any Smarter? - Suck My Trend

Can Smartphones get any Smarter?

We all love our smartphone. It does everything we want or need it to do, from taking photos, emailing and accessing the internet. Most of us can remember the days when these were unavailable luxuries, and now they are taken for granted. These clever features are what makes a phone a smart phone, clever enough to deliver web pages, email messages and take a high quality photograph worthy of entering into competitions.

The question I have is a simple, yet logical one. Can smartphones get any smarter? We have seen how a smart feature comes out. Some great games can be installed, clever ones with beautiful graphics and gameplay features that keep that player coming back for more, smarter in more ways than one.

Phones can continue to throw better statistics at us. The processor can get better, there can be more megapixels thrown into the camera and more HD codecs thrown into the video, but what is original, unique and stunning that makes a phone smarter than it already is. Email coming was a big one. The Blackberry Businessmen adore it, the internet browsers can handle all the features of a Web 2.0 site, but what else?

We should take a look at what we do on the computer that we can’t yet do on our phones. We can play games on both, we can socialise on both, albeit on an App based version on a mobile device that does not show all the features, but still works the way an everyday user would want it to. We can plug in SD Cards and HDMI cables into our computer but we can’t on our phone, but at the same time we have Micro SD and Mini HDMI to get around that.

The only thing we can’t do is USB and CD/DVDs. Films on mobile devices would be great with a DVD, but there is no real work around for that, but a USB connection would be great. The Mini USB slots that are popular and work with chargers and connection to computers do their job correctly, but what about a printer, a scanner, keyboard or mouse when using Office based Apps. With phones increasing in size, just look at the Galaxy S2 and S3, why can’t they fit a USB slot too?

What else would make a smart phone smarter? Post a comment below letting us know your thoughts.
