This weekend is a perfect opportunity to go out and spend an evening under the stars.
The Northern hemisphere is due to get a great display of shooting stars as we travel through Comet Swift-Tuttle’s trailing debris. This happens yearly, but this year is going to be good for viewing.
Most of the UK should have clear skies for Saturday night (11th August) into Sunday morning (12th August), which is going to to be the best time to see the display this weekend.
The Perseids shower will through out a consistent stream of shooting stars up until dawn on Sunday. So if you have to get up for work really early, have a look outside at the sky before the sun rises and you should get a good treat. Also, Venus and Jupiter will be on show in the Eastern sky at this time.
