Today Michael Phelps is trending because everyone is discussing whether or not he should lose his gold medals. Why? Well because has broken Rule 40 of the International Olympic Committee Handbook which states “no athlete is able to participate in non-Olympic marketing during the Games and a specified period afterwards”.

The discussion that is trending is whether or not he should be punished for this or not. Here at Suck My Trend, we believe he has won his medals fairly and this has nothing to do with cheating or misconduct of the Games, so this rule is unfair. We also wonder why this is a big story when other Olympic competitors have been featured in adverts which may or may not be related to the Olympic Games. This includes Jessica Ennis and Sir Chris Hoy who both won Gold for Team GB.
