What is the iTunes Music Festival?

The trouble with many concerts is that you pay to see one band play their hit songs for one single night; perhaps a few hours in total. While it may have been a great show, you are still limited to that one style and genre of music by the same single band. What if you were able to see all of your favorite bands in one venue? What if the party didn’t have to stop after the first night? The iTunes Music Festival may be just what you’ve been looking for.

Started in 2007 and obviously managed by Apple, The iTunes Music Festival is an annual concert series that showcases the most popular (and unknown) worldwide artists of the year. Held at The Roundhouse in North London, the 30-night music festival features over 60 brilliant artists – more bands being added to the line-up regularly. Whether you are into pop, rock, or alternative music, there will likely be a band that fits your style. The best part of the festival is that tickets to the event are absolutely free! Presumably due to limited space, contests are available to win tickets to the prime events of the month! The Roundhouse has been a iconic music venue for many of the worlds most well-known artists such as Elton John, Jimi Hendrix, and Pink Floyd. Converted from an old steam-engine repair shop, The Roundhouse has become the ideal venue for live music, theatre, and dance.

Alongside other fantastic bands will be The Killers, One Direction, Usher, and Matchbox Twenty – just to name a few. The complete lineup schedule is available below. Among the several performances of the 30-nights there is sure to be a perfect performance for everyone.

If you are not able to attend the 2012 iTunes Festival, Apple has made it extremely easy to stay connected with the performances and the bands. The festival’s site offers a live stream of each night’s performances as well as a live photostream of the event. Apple has also produced a dedicated app called “iTunes Festival London”, available in the app store. In the UK, Channel 4′s stations will be broadcasting coverage as well (C4, T4, E4) Starting September 1, the streams will be active for free viewing. The entire festival runs from September 1st to September 30th. Links can be found below.
