Hurricane Isaac is not yet a threat as it gains strength towards Florida


Florida is on standby today after Hurricane Isaac, a Tropical Storm has left Puerto Rico and is moving across the Caribbean Ocean. As it is now over the ocean, analysts are saying that it is unlikely it will become a dangerous life threatening hurricane, but according to MassLive, it will take a strike at Florida and may cause some damage.

Puerto Rico was covered in heavy rain by the tropical storm and waves of up to 10 feet were seen around the Caribbean Ocean.

Hurricane Forecaster Eric Blake has said that even though it looks like the strength will deteriorate and it may not currently be heading for the Tampa area of Florida, it is still unknown how the path of the hurricane may change, so Tampa is still at risk.

Haitian Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe has urged people to tape their windows and get relatives to send them money via wire transfer so that they can stock up on food and water. They were also advised to avoid rivers as these are set to overflow and could cause a loss of life. He stated that it is best that everyone remains calm, because if everyone is panicking, then it simply causes more problems.

Right now everybody will be preparing and defending themselves against the incoming storm, and we will have to wait and see what path Hurricane Isaac chooses to take.
