David Weir so far has won 2 Gold medals for Team GB in the wheelchair athletics. He is now in the final after racing in Heat 2 of the T54 800m with a qualifying time of 1:37.09 This time was the best out of all the qualifying times and he is a very strong competitor to win his 3rd gold medal!
He is trending all over twitter as #weirwolf because his mates have been howling in the crowd at the olympic stadium every time he has raced and won. The inspiration for this nickname is from a song which features a werewolf howling. Other comparisons which Weir is known for is “the Bradley Wiggins of the Paralympics” and being “super-human”.
You can see whether David Weir wins his 3rd Gold medal tomorrow at 9.15 in the Olympic stadium. He is racing in lane 7 against Marcel Hug and Josh Cassidy who are also top Paralympions.
