The Liverpool Biennial is a 10 week period of free exhibitions, talks, films and events. If you haven’t managed to make it to London over the Olympics and missed taking part in London 2012 Festival and other events which have been going on all Summer then this is one not to miss. The idea of a biennial is to regenerate a town or city into thinking creatively. Past events include the Folkestone Triennial and London 2012 Festival.
The festival takes place in over 27 locations around the city of Liverpool and showcases 242 artists. If you want to find the full event programme then head to the official Biennial page. Most of the events are free and can also be booked online. The major attractions at this festival include “The Unexpected Guest” which is s collection of permanent and temporary public artworks which are featured throughout the city. Artists include Martin Parr, Sophie Calle, Andrew McCall and Gilbert and George.
If art is not your thing, then you can also enjoy films which take place at 6.30pm most Wednesday’s at FACT.
The whole festival takes place from 15th September – 25 November.
