Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes is coming soon, and in this opinion piece I’d like to examine whether or not Metal Gear Solid can bring back that feeling of happiness I once got playing the previous titles.
I remember sitting down with my Playstation 2 and playing Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty. The first game was good, but I never got to play my PS1 much, as I didn’t get one until near enough the time that the PS2 was going to be released. I bought the strategy guide with MGS2 and I used it as a checklist for getting all the dog tags. Nothing like unlimited ammo and an incredible bandanna, and then switching to the stealth suit to wreak some havoc.
The game had a true feel about it, and although some of the missions towards the end with Raiden were rather strange, I did really enjoy the shorter tanker episode because of the way it was run. Don’t get me wrong, the shell mission was incredible and the way the game was thought out really shows the creative genius that Hideo Kojima and his team truly have.
After that game, the other Metal Gear Solid games continued to impress, but I kept thinking back to those great times I had on the tanker, and I couldn’t help but go back and play it again, even when I had a Playstation 3 and Metal Gear Solid 4 was sitting on my desk. Graphics are good to me, but a brilliant storyline and creative game is what really impresses me, and that is what Son’s of Liberty really had. Ground Zeroes will hopefully bring some of this back into the game. I want that Metal Gear feel back, and I want to really enjoy Ground Zeroes, and I truly hope that it will be capable of delivering.
Do you think it will be the best Metal Gear yet? Comments go below!
