Irish Daily Star Funding Cut after Kate Middleton Topless Photos Published

We recently reported that the Irish version of the Newspaper The Daily Star could be in jeapordy after they published topless photos of Kate Middleton whilst she was sunbathing on a private holiday in France. This has become huge news over the past week, and Suck My Trend will be covering it, as long as it continues to be a big search trend.

News has now come out according to Perez Hilton claiming that Richard Desmond, the person responsible for Funding of the paper, could cut this due to the recent images posted of Kate Middleton. He said the following:

“I am very angry at the decision to publish these photographs and am taking immediate steps to close down the joint venture. The decision to publish these pictures has no justification whatever, and Northern & Shell condemns it in the strongest possible terms.”

We are unsure whether or not Richard Desmond is planning on closing down the company, or simply walking away and cutting all funding in order to save his own skin. If funding was to be cut, then the paper could struggle to find any new money in order to keep things running, meaning an inevitable closure any way.

Gareth Morgan, who is the editor of the UK Daily Star has stated the following:

“We’re absolutely horrified here in the office, and as a company. This has no merit as an editorial decision, it has no merit morally, it’s frankly a horrible decision.”

Perez Hilton states that it is a ‘bit of a mess’, and we feel they are rather correct in that assumption. We will have to wait and see what happens with the paper. It’s future right now is surely not known until further decisions are made.
