It has been confirmed by the BBC that the Editor of the Irish Daily Star has been suspended after topless images of Kate Middleton were posted in the paper.
The Co-owners of the paper known as Independent News and Media confirmed that the Editor, Michael O’Kane has been suspended. This is while an investigation takes place regarding the images of Kate Middleton that have been posted and viewed by over 3 million people all over the world according to Google Trends, with this number expected to grow as the story continues to go Viral all around the world.
This news comes as Funding is being cut, and the paper could even be closed down by Richard Desmond, although it may be easier said than done for him to actually have the entire paper closed down. But he could easily cut the funding of for the paper and potentially walk away from the situation, saving his own skin after the issues with the Leveson Inquiry that has been in news recently.
According to the Union behind the Irish paper, there is worry, anger and panic within the organisation internally as the employees do not yet know if they are going to be out of a job or not. It may be a while before they even find out which could lead to a big loss or morale within the company, but that story is for another day as the news comes out more publicly.
