Today, thousands of outraged Britons lined the streets of major cities across the country to protest the Tory government’s austerity measures. Even Labour leader Ed Miliband made an appearance at the largest rally, which took place in London (although he was driven there in a Rolls-Royce, a fact conspicuous by its irony). The Conservative party insist that the measures are essential to cut the deficit, but the statement doesn’t cut the mustard with marchers. Here are a selection of our favourite placards from the event:
A reference to Chancellor George Osborne’s attempt to travel First Class with a Standard Class ticket
The Natural History Museum protests cuts in the heritage sector
Protesters referencing Andrew Mitchell’s plebeian gaffe from earlier this year.
Students protest
This sign was one of the most shared on Twitter
Old people protesting
And finally, a brilliant dress design.
