What is the Sony Playstation 3 Master Key? - Suck My Trend

What is the Sony Playstation 3 Master Key?

It has been leaked. The Sony Playstation 3 Master Key can allow any gamer to install pirated and downloaded games onto their games console and enjoy them without them being blocked. This latest blunder for Sony may be a hard one to reverse, and a leak like this spreads like wildfire.

We will not be displaying the key within this article, nor how to find it. That is not the type of website that we are. We do however feel its good to let you know this has happened and that it can affect a large number of gamers. Torrents will be on the rise once again, as PS3 pirated games are ridiculously easy to get hold of.

The way that it has happened is the same as unlocking your iPhone or other smart mobile device. You want it to work with all networks, so you install software, or a ROM to unbound it from one network. This is the same as this exploit, which has unlocked the PS3 to allow it to install whatever type of games you’d like. It’s been jailbreaked.

The hackers who released the information about the keys are known as the Three Musketeers. They do however apparently have a valid reason for it happening, according to BBC news.

“…they decided to release the information after it was leaked and fell into the hands of Chinese hackers who had planned to charge a fee for the code.”

One thing other news sites appears to have missed is that it is highly unlikely you will be able to experience online multiplayer with this hack. Single player games will be fine, so titles like Sleeping Dogs and Dishonored will surely go on the rise in the download charts from now, however shooting your friends on Call of Duty probably isn’t going to happen. There are defense mechanisms in place that should stop that from happening. However, this  has not yet been confirmed.

Would you Jailbreak your PS3? Comments below.

It seems like PlayStation is just not very good at handling security. They keep getting hit time and time again. You don’t often hear the same for Xbox security. Is this perhaps due to the fact that PS3 account are free, while Xbox LIVE subscriptions are not? Maybe its not as big of a deal to be banned on the PlayStation Network since you can just create another free account…
