Need For Speed Most Wanted looks like Burnout? - Suck My Trend

Need For Speed Most Wanted looks like Burnout?

It might be just me, but I used to play Need for Speed. I loved the feel of Underground, the awesomeness of Most Wanted and the Cop Chases in Carbon. (Okay they were pretty good in Most Wanted as well).

Then came all those weird track titles for no reason that everyone hated because there are plenty of better games like GRID and Gran Turismo. Not sure where they were going with that, but that’s a story for another night. Then came Hot Pursuit. It’s a great game and brings back the Need for Speed feel, but is the same happening with this installment of Most Wanted? (What on earth is it with calling them the same name as previous titles?)

In the below video, try to imagine those times that you played Burnout.

Amazing isn’t it. It’s like the same game. The guy even drives through a billboard. The only addition being the multiplayer feel as if they brought in the awesome part of Test Drive Unlimited.

I reckon it will be a good title, but they need to stop trying to be like other games. We like Need for Speed because it’s Need for Speed. Underground crazy racing with cars we can stick neons on. We have Burnout for billboard bashing, and we have many other racers for our track sessions. (Just realised I forgot Forza, your hardly going to top that.)

What do you think of this upcoming title? Has Need for Speed lost the plot completely? EA are a bit strange though, let’s be honest. DLC on almost launch date BF3 anyone?

all i gotta say is that the online play really suck and they really screwed this game up.

Sorry to hear that. What system are you playing from? I have the PC version coming in a couple of days. Usually patches come out a month or so after and resolve network related issues, so it should be fine in time for the Christmas rush of everyone purchasing and playing the game. :)

I miss underground 2…criterion needs to stop making nfs games because their format is different the nfs the run devs(classic nfs devs)

This going to take over NFS World? This looks a lot better and the physics are good too. Can’t wait!

NFS means tuning and cop cases for me… If I don’t get tuning, the game starts with -5 points (of 10)

    • http://suckmytrend.com/ Ashley Pearson

Too much damage in this game, your tuning would be destroyed! :p

  • derp

You do realize that Criterion games, who is making this by the way, also made the Burnout series? Why wouldn’t it look similar? Derp.

Apologies, I thought it was another EA title as all the previous ones were. Thanks for this information.

Personally I like the need for speed titles with the hammy stories like the original most wanted and the open world, does this new one have a story to it at all? Or is it just another “always connected” “social” “beat my time” dick swinging contest?

    • http://suckmytrend.com/ Ashley Pearson

Dick swinging for sure. The original Most Wanted was awesome. not sure how they will pull off the cop chases in a massive social environment.

“We like Need for Speed because it’s Need for Speed. Underground crazy racing with cars we can stick neons on.”

Not to sound mean or anything but that’s not “Need for speed” there were 5 Need for speed games BEFORE underground that weren’t anywhere close to that style. And to be honest a lot of original Need for speed fans feel the same way about the Underground series that you do about those “weird track titles” I’m not dogging Underground, those games were good in their own right, but True Need for Speed? Nope…

I think I am in the generation where if I think Need for Speed, I think of those titles, starting from Underground as that was when we generally started gaming. I understand there were many titles beforehand. This was afterall, an opinion piece. :)

      • MetalKats

Agreed, This is your opinion and many people do not remember Need for Speed before Underground (don’t know why) but I see a flaw in the statement “We like Need for Speed because it’s Need for Speed. Underground crazy racing with cars we can stick neons on.” for two reasons. The first being what has already been stated about it’s past and the second being that most people don’t realize, or choose not to acknowledge that the Need for Speed Franchise has been split into multiple genres: Arcade, Simulation & Underground.

        ARCADE:
3, High Stakes, HP2, Undercover, HP 2010 and The Run
        SIMULATION:
        1,2, Porsche Unleashed, Shift & Shift2 (1&2 are debatable Arcade/Sim)
        UNDERGROUND (style):
        UG1, UG2, MW & Carbon

The problem is this general idea that if any of the NFS games aren’t like Underground then they aren’t a real NFS game??? Reality is… What is a real NFS game? EA is currently working on a new NFS game in house for 2013, I’m sure that game will be completely different… I can’t even remember when was the last time EA made NFS in house, High stakes???

“We like Need for Speed because it’s Need for Speed. Underground crazy racing with cars we can stick neons on.” … Except that was only a few recent NFS titles!
Originally it bore a bit of a resmblance to the Test Drive series. It was about exotics (not adding neon to a Misubishi!) So the whole “underground” argument only applies to a few games in the over all series.

I agree, but do you not feel like when you think of Need for Speed, you think of those games?
