Facebook Messages Update Screws up Their Chrome Extension - Suck My Trend

Facebook Messages Update Screws up Their Chrome Extension

Facebook has rolled out a new update to their Messages system. It looks and feels a lot better, but there is a slight problem in regards to the update. It has affected how the Google Chrome Extension that they released themselves is functioning. It is a feature on Chrome that allows you to be notified within your browser whenever you receive a new message, and many thousands of people all around the world use it. The problem is, it appears to have a bug related to the release of the new messages system.

The extension works with notifications as well, and they appear to be working fine, as they pop up once and then don’t come up again once they have been seen. The messages however, even when read and replied to, keep popping up in the right hand corner of the browser screen every few minutes. It seems to be whatever your most recent message was, whether it was a message to you, or a reply that you sent to someone else. It’s actually rather annoying having your own message that you sent popping up as a notification telling you that you have a new message, and then again every 5 minutes or so.

Facebook have been made aware of this issue, and we hope to see a fix too, as a lot of people are using this particular Chrome extension.
