The Go ON UK Charity has completed a survey which brings in results that suggest millions of people in the UK lack even the most basic online skills when using a computer system.
Martha Lane Fox, a Digital Champion, commissioned the report. The report was also conducted by Booz and Company. They suggest that online basic skills involve things like using search engines, sending an email and completing applications online.
Martha appears to feel that the UK could ‘supercharge’ itself if more people knew how to use computers to a higher standard, according to a BBC article.
If more people can become better at using online applications and making best use of what is available on the internet, it could lead to more businesses being created from the UK which could help improve our economy. Perhaps some time soon, this will be the case, but right now, the bar is set quite low, continues Martha.
