This is a question that is on the end of a lot of people’s tongues. Google+ is closing in on 200 million users, and we have seen a TV advert go live to bring in some more people, however many of us, including the team here at Suck My Trend, are waiting to see what big announcement, or advertising technique that Google+ plans to use in order to start bringing in the masses of people.
Of course Google plans to take over Facebook’s popularity at some point. They already have a huge member database thanks to their search engine tracking. Rather than show us “relevant ads”, they could have a lovely new profile made up for us ready to use with our personal information, and some pictures of a recent night out already uploaded for you. This actually wouldn’t surprise me! Of course, the serious way Google has information is from their services, such as YouTube, Gmail and Blogger, that millions are using every day. The information here can be used to join the world of Google+ and start socialising in ways that Facebook has already been doing since 2004.
The trend happens though, let’s face it. Look at the likes of MySpace, Bebo and Hi5. All were big back in their prime time slots in internet history, but now people won’t even bother looking to see if they reached 1000 spam friend requests from “sexy ladies in your town”.
Is Google+ waiting for the right moment to see Facebook’s natural decline before jumping in and swooping some member sign ups? We will have to wait and see, but let us assure you, that every tactical move Google+ makes, we will be watching, and writing super cool articles about it here at Suck My Trend.
