A speedboat used during the Olympic torch run around the River Thames has failed to reach it’s reserve at auction.
The boat was expected to go for around £250,000 but due to a lack of interest, there was no bids higher than £180,000 leaving it unsold.
The Bladerunner RIB 35 boat is super fast and prestigious due to its use in something the world, especially London, will remember forever. But even this legendary status is not enough for it to sell. It really depends on the buyers that are at the auction and if they wait and allow it to gain value, it could sell for more later on down the line.
In my personal estimate, I reckon if they auctioned it directly after the Olympics it would have fetched a lot more as there was so much hype.
The auctioneers have said that it may sell in a ‘post-sale deal’.
