I am in the age generation where I was watching cartoons mostly in the late 90s and throughout the early 00s, known as the naughties.

Cartoons were a big trend back then. They still are of course, but now more kids are online searching for their entertainment on YouTube instead of Cartoon Network. I guess that could be why a lot of the cartoons out now are pretty rubbish.

In no particular order, here are some big names that were popular in the 00s, gathered from statistics around the web.

    While some of these are clearly great, there are few on this list who will stand the test of time to become legendary programs like Ren and Stimpy, Rugrats (before Dill), and etc. Some better fits might be Adventure Time with its needlessly robust and compelling back story, emotionally complex characters, and hilarity. Another would be Regular Show with its curiously sharp portrayal of the underwhelming experience of early adulthood, absurd humor, and moral code that while ridiculous, is endearing and memorable.

    I see eye candy and drivel on this list with scattered showers of artistic integrity. But who am I to judge. I live under a rock at the bottom of the ocean.

      Thanks for your comment. I wasn’t sure whether or not to put Spongebob in this one or the 90s one considering when it started, but I figured as it remained popular throughout 2000-2010 it would be suitable here. Nick Toons was full of it, and Fairly Odd Parents of course.
