Twitter Allows Trends in over 160 New Locations - Suck My Trend

Twitter Allows Trends in over 160 New Locations

A lot of users on Twitter enjoy being able to see what is trending in their area at a certain time. It started with countries and a Worldwide option which proved very popular, and large groups of people would be required to include the #hashtag in their tweet to even get it on the list.

Twitter then started adding more locations at the request of users, such as large cities. This allowed people to see what is trending in cities such as London, rather than the whole of the UK.

Now Twitter has released 160 new locations, and as you can imagine with each update Twitter makes like this, more local locations are being added. This update the locations are small countries that never had access to the trends system before, and also many more cities in countries all around the world.

As these updates keep coming over the years, it could nail down to trends in every town in the world, allowing you to know exactly what’s happening in the town you are in. If somebody goes missing in your local town, a hashtag could be set up to make everyone in the town aware of the disappearance, and help recover the missing person before something bad happens. There are of course many other reasons this system can prove useful.

How much do you use Twitter’s Trend system? Or do you use a system like Trendsmap instead?
