The biggest concern of all the Windows Phone users right now is whether the current Windows Phone devices will get an upgrade to Windows Phone 8. Well, there is a bit of conflict. Some sources say that current devices will not be upgraded to Apollo while others say that they will get an upgrade which leaves Windows Phone user hanging between the two statements.
There was not anything official but then we heard it from Nokia Care and they seem to have corroborated the latter statement. While on a chat on with one of the Nokia Care personnel we came to know that Nokia Lumia 900 may get to have an upgrade to Windows Phone Apollo.
But it is better not to jump to conclusions unless something official comes out. And what Nokia Care person said was not clear. He used the term “capable of upgrading” rather than saying it will be upgraded. So unless we hear something official we can’t say anything. But it is believed that companies would prefer launching the Windows Phone 8 on newer devices rather than upgrading the current devices regardless of the fact that they meet the requirements or not.
But truth will soon be revealed as Windows Phone Developer Summit will be held on June 20th in San Francisco and we might get to see a preview of Windows Phone. Within a month we may get all the information and news regarding the new Windows Phone OS. But it will be nice to see the new OS coming to older devices.
