Apple will no longer have Google Maps after iOS 6 - Suck My Trend

Apple will no longer have Google Maps after iOS 6

WWDC has been a success, and this year at the Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple has displayed it’s latest operating system that will run on upcoming devices such as the iPad and iPhone. This will be the appropriately named iOS 6, and we have heard some interesting news about this new version.

Google Maps has been featured on the devices for quite some time, but now Apple is designing there very own map technology in order to use it on their upcoming devices. To be honest, it’s about time as there are many different versions of Maps and GPS programs to use, with Google Maps of course being the most popular.

The edge Apple hope to have is with the 3D technology that they will be including with the software, but Google have already beaten them to it by displaying their own 3D technology with their maps which will be available on Android based devices.

Android right now is growing faster than iOS according to many trends, graphs and statistics. So, Google won’t be too sad about having to only use their own operating system for the Maps software. Will Apple be able to compete?

Both companies have been using planes all over to gather imagery, however this has raised some concern in regards to privacy.

It is a good move by Apple, because they are doing what Google are also doing. They each will have their own operating systems and Map software to put on it, but with all the patent issues lately and copyright lawsuits, we can expect to see some tension between the two companies once this new technology becomes available to the public.

Will you use 3D map technology when  it is released? Tell us in a comment below.
