Facebook makes a deal with Face.com - Suck My Trend

Facebook makes a deal with Face.com

Tagging friends in Facebook pictures is a bit of a past time with Facebook working alongside Face.com for 2 years now. However Facebook has decided to make a deal and buy the face recognition platform. The Israeli company Face.com has been sold to Facebook. The sale price and contract details are yet to be released. Although it has been reported that the price it sold for was between $55 -$100 million.

The company which has been bought, Face.com which founded in 2007, released an app called Klik in May 2012 available in the Apple App Store, which required a Facebook account. It was the first attempt to quickly tag your friends in your uploaded photos. With this app, tagging faces has never been easier. Klik worked by immediately recognising faces for us to tag even before the photo has been posted to Facebook. This clever idea already introduced a strong bond between the companies as they worked alongside each other to produce inventive ways to tag. But now this idea is not enough for Facebook or Face.com. Now this idea has developed in technology so it can now identify individuals, their gender, their age and their location.

With Face.com becoming even more popular we think Facebook has done a very good deal, much like buying Instagram. So we say well done to Facebook and we think that the collaboration of the two companies will bring new and unique ways to upload and tag your photos and we can’t wait for what is next. And who knows Facebook could even take a shot at combing face.com and instagram as an even handier feature on Facebook. If Instagram is anything to go by, this app is going to become what everyone is talking about in the near future.
